If you don’t yet own a hot melt glue gun you're going to want to get one before you start making hair bows.

Honestly, these things are so useful you'll wonder what you ever did without one.

A word of warning before you buy.  Be sure you get a HOT melt glue gun and not just a low temp one.  It can be a dual temperature gun but you want a HOT option.

Yes, this does mean you'll have to be a bit more careful to avoid burning your fingers. 

However, because the glue is hotter it's thinner.  It penetrates your ribbons better and you can use less.

This is important, not from an expense point of view... because glue sticks are cheap, but for aesthetics reasons.   Less glue, less bulk equals a cleaner, nicer hair bow.

If the only thing you plan to make with your glue gun is hair bows and other craft projects. 

An inexpensive dual temperature hot melt glue gun from the craft department will suffice.  But... The triggers on these cheap glue guns often are hard to pull. 

Not for a little dab, but if you need to use it a lot or need to make long rows of glue you're hand will start hurting after a while.

Also, they don't get as hot or can't melt the glue fast enough sometimes if you need to use a lot at once.  In those cases you'll want an industrial hot glue gun.  The superior functionality is well worth the price in that case.

My best suggestion is to look for a glue gun that has a large trigger for your whole hand or palm.  Not just a finger or two.

We recommend "Fabric Stik" for making hair bows and other clothing accessories.

Any glue sticks will work as long as they are "Hot Melt" but we like this best because it stays flexible no matter what.

Also, it's machine washable.

Now, we aren't recommending you toss your hair bows into the washer.  But isn't it nice to know you could?

And this really has nothing to do with hair bows but this stuff is great for quick hems and such too.
