Nothing shows special pampering more than attentive grooming.

Dog Bows Come IN Two main styles... bands and clips

Dog Hair Bands...

Dog hair bands are elastic, like rubber bands, but should be powder coated to prevent the hair from tearing.

They come in many different sizes and as you would expect, larger bands will give you the ability to wrap them more than once.  You should choose a size based on the amount of hair you wish to wrap and how thick your dog's hair is.

If you choose to make your own dog hair bows, bags of elastic bands come in assorted colors, single colors, and assorted sizes.

There are many free hair bow instructions that you may want to try once you get comfortable using dog hair bows and have learned what works best for you and your dog.

Bands are better suited for dogs with silkier hair like Maltese and Yorkies. Clips tend to slip out of their hair too easily.  Some bows and flowers are too big to put on a clip so an elastic band would be ideal.

It is also much harder for dogs to paw a well-fitted elastic band out of their hair. Bands do require more time to put in and more care since you do not want to tear the hair or have it pulled too tight.

Bands are also the first step in creating a fountain or pony tail on top of your dog's head. A clip will most likely not stay in place very long if a fountain is the desired look (if you don't first have a band holding the hair in place).

Also, bands can help keep hair out of your dog's eyes. This will not only keep the hair from getting tangled, but will also support your dog's eye health and help prevent odors and infections.

Use Dog hair clips for versatility

Dog Hair Clips...

Clips are easier for most people to put in, especially the elderly or people with arthritis. They are much quicker to apply and easier to change when desired.

However, a clip is obviously heavier and when a bow or flower is added to it, the weight will increase. This is why clips tend to fall out easily and are easier for your dog to paw out.

Clips are usually better suited for larger dogs who have more hair, or dogs with coarse or curly hair such as poodles.

So what do you do when you find a clip that you absolutely love, but know it will fall out of your silky dog's hair?

The perfect solution is to use both methods!

Start with an elastic band to secure the fountain and then add the clip secured to the band to keep it in place.

This is also the best arrangement if you want to change your dog's bow for seasons or holidays or are in between groomings or baths.

Dog hair bows are fun and can serve many purposes for both you and your dog.

Whether your dog is a boy or a girl, it will make you feel good knowing that you took the extra time and attention to express your love.

Your dog will look cute and pretty and nothing can replace the special bond that forms from pampering your pet.
